All Residents/Families/Staff/Next of Kin/Visitors Apartment Building - Exterior Repairs We are writing to inform you that over the next few months, Copernicus Lodge will undergo a facelift, with major work being completed on the exterior of our apartment building in order to repair leaks while making the building more energy efficient. This work will start mid June and continue until its completion, sometime in November (dependent on weather conditions).
Please be advised that this work will not affect the Long Term Care Home with the exception of walkways, entrances/exits, outdoor areas which may be temporarily redirected while work is performed overhead. Please watch for and obey posted signs. In order to ensure resident, staff and visitor safety, Copernicus Lodge has contracted the services of a Safety Consultant Agency to assist us in identifying and monitoring any potential safety concerns.
All work will be done on the exterior of the apartment building, meaning there will be swing stages or platforms suspended on the outside of the building for the workers to stand and work on. To ensure your privacy and prevent embarrassment, it is suggested that apartment residents keep blinds and curtains closed when appropriate, especially when dressing.
If workers need access to your apartment, then you will get advanced notification from our office and one of our own staff will stay with the worker while in your apartment.
Contractors will make every effort to control the noise, dirt and dust however some noise, and dust may be inevitable and unavoidable, especially during the dry, hot summer months. For this reason, we are asking that you keep your windows closed during the daytime hours while the workers are outside.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and assure you that every effort will be made to ensure the least amount of disruption as possible.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we make this much needed repair to our building. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions or require further information at 416-536-7122 extension 238.
Sincerely,
Tracy Kamino Executive Director

On Saturday June 7th, Copernicus Lodge’s Ladies Auxiliary hosted their annual summer yard sale featuring the sale of gently used goods, books and a BBQ. All proceeds from the sale will provide support services to our senior residents.
Long term care residents and apartment tenants were treated to a special Father’s Day celebration on Sunday June 8th by the Polish Youth Group from St. Eugene De Mazenod. All looked on in delight as the group performed a series of Polish dances dressed in their colorful attire.
June is Seniors Month In June, Copernicus Lodge celebrates our seniors. We take time to remember seniors' accomplishments and the important contributions they have made to us, our community, and our country. The best approach seniors can take to enjoy healthy aging is to practice proper nutrition, participate in physical activity, understand personal medication use, and be aware of injury prevention methods. Promoting healthy living and well-being for seniors will not only enhance the quality of their lives, but also help to ensure that they continue to contribute to our community through knowledge and expertise. Copernicus Lodge would like to thank and acknowledge the valuable social role seniors play in each of our lives and for Copernicus Lodge.
