Foundation: Planned Giving

Benefits of a Planned Gift
A charitable planned gift to Copernicus Lodge Foundation is one way to leave a legacy of caring for generations to come. It is also a prudent way to reduce or eliminate gift, estate, capital gains and income taxes on the funds you give for charitable purposes while supporting the Foundation’s mission.
What is planned giving?
The most frequent types of planned gifts are bequests in your Will, gifts of life insurance, proceeds from RRSP’s and RRIF’s, as well as gifts of marketable securities and property, all of which provide some of the most tax effective ways for donors to support Copernicus Lodge.
Planned gifts are different from any other type of giving. A person can often make a substantially larger gift from assets because of resources built up over a lifetime and there are considerable tax savings in a properly structured planned gift. We suggest that you seek professional legal, estate planning or financial advise before deciding on a course of action.
Bequest in your Will
A bequest is a gift of personal property in a Will. A Will is the legal document that tells your estate how to distribute all of your assets. Bequests can be for specific amounts, percentages or the residue of your estate. Bequests to a charitable organization in your Will produce significant tax benefits for your estate.
