The Copernicus Lodge Auxiliary
The Copernicus Lodge Auxiliary was established at the request of Father Michael Smith when Copernicus Lodge first opened in 1979. Its mission was to welcome the Polish community, introduce Polish seniors to the newly built 110 independent living apartments, and support residents through service and fundraising.
Originally formed by members of various Polish organizations, including Saint Casimir’s Church, Saint Stanislaus Church, and the Marie Curie-Sklodowska Association, the Auxiliary has remained dedicated to enhancing residents’ quality of life.
Over the past 45 years, it has contributed over $1.5 million to Copernicus Lodge
The Auxiliary contributed to funding essential items such as an extra-large elevator, specialized hydrotherapy bathtubs, medical devices, adjustable dining room tables for long-term care residents, and a baby grand piano for the Main Hall.
The Auxiliary’s generates fundraising revenue through Aggie’s store, outdoor yard sales, a Christmas bazaar, the sale of crafts and handmade jewellery as well as home items.
The Auxiliary members, more than 50 strong, remain committed to the idea of improving life at Copernicus Lodge and creating a sense of community and welcome individuals to join them who share this spirit.
