Copernicus Lodge Assisted Living
The Assisted Living Program at Copernicus Lodge is designed to support seniors who are living independently but may need help with daily activities. The program is funded by Ontario Health and aims to keep seniors living in their apartments for as long as possible, promoting independence and quality of life.
The program is available to seniors who require assistance with daily living activities but do not need 24-hour nursing care. Eligibility is determined based on an annual assessment.
The range of services provided under this program is extensive and tailored to the needs of each tenant. These services include assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, meals, security checks, emergency response, medication reminders and coordination of services and homemaking.
One of the primary goals of Copernicus Lodge’s program is to allow tenants to age in place. This means that as the needs of the tenants change over time, the services provided will be adapted accordingly to continue supporting their independence in the apartment. Aging in place allows seniors to stay in familiar environments and maintain a sense of stability and community.
The program ensures that Polish and English-speaking Independent Living Assistants (certified PSWs) are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This ensures that no matter the time of day or night, there is someone available to assist with basic needs and emergencies.
The services we provide are person – centered, respecting and ensuring sensitivity in the spiritual, cultural, and ethnic aspects of a tenant’s life.
Copernicus Lodge takes a holistic approach to care. This means that the well-being of tenants is viewed comprehensively, considering not only their physical health but also their emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The emphasis is on quality of life, ensuring that residents feel cared for and valued as individuals.
The program respects and incorporates the spiritual, cultural, and ethnic needs of each tenant. The services are sensitive to the backgrounds of the tenants, ensuring that care is provided with respect for everyone’s unique needs.
One of the key benefits of this program is that the services are provided at no cost to eligible tenants. This ensures that the support is accessible to those who need it, without financial barriers, so seniors can continue to live in their apartments with the help they need.
Because Copernicus Lodge is community-based, it also encourages social interactions and a sense of belonging. This fosters a supportive environment where seniors can interact with others, participate in activities, and feel part of a larger community, enhancing their overall well-being.
The Assisted Living Program at Copernicus Lodge is an excellent resource for seniors who want to maintain their independence while receiving the support they need for daily living. By focusing on individual needs, providing culturally sensitive care, and allowing flexibility to adapt as those needs change, the program ensures that seniors can live in their homes comfortably and securely for as long as possible.
