Donor Impact

The Copernicus Lodge Foundation plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by providing essential funding for programs, equipment, and facility improvements. Through generous donations and community support, the foundation helps Copernicus Lodge offer enriched care, upgraded amenities, and meaningful activities that promote comfort, dignity, and well-being. Its impact ensures that residents receive the best possible care in a warm and supportive environment.

Specialized Hydrotherapy Bathtubs

Copernicus Lodge’s long-term care home uses special hydrotherapy bathtubs to provide over 2,000 baths each month. With the support of our donors, we will be replacing four of them which have reached the end of their 20-year life span. These special bathtubs equipped with therapeutic spa-like features offer more than cleanliness–they provide comfort, relaxation, and dignity. The warm water soothes joints and eases muscle tension, while gentle hydro massage helps improve circulation.

Therapeutic Air Mattresses

Therapeutic air mattresses are essential for approximately 40 of our long-term care residents, who because of a medical condition, pain or declining mobility spend extended time in bed. These specialized mattresses have inflatable and deflatable air tubes that relieve pressure spots that can lead to wounds and ulcers, discomfort and the risk of life-threatening infections. Thanks to the generosity of donors, 20 have been purchased.

Library Renovation

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its opening in 1985, the Copernicus Lodge library was fully renovated transforming the space into a vibrant hub for learning, culture, and social connection. New vinyl flooring replaced carpeting and fresh paint added new life to the space. A brand-new 65-inch high-definition television now allows for engaging film nights and presentations, and the addition of comfortable new sofa chairs and loveseats will create a welcoming atmosphere for reading, lectures, poetry, and book readings.

Dining Room Chairs

Seventy brand new dining chairs were recently purchased to enhance the comfort of tenants and those visiting family at Copernicus Lodge. These chairs are fully IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) compliant, meaning they are designed to meet strict hygiene and safety standards. These new chairs provide not only improved support and stability but also a fresh, welcoming atmosphere in the dining room.

Reception Area Furniture

Upgrades were made to the main reception area with brand-new, modern furniture that is stylish and comfortable, providing seating that makes the space more welcoming for tenants, visitors, and staff alike.

Hallway Floors

A significant improvement was made to the Independent Living apartment building with high-quality vinyl flooring replacing carpeting in the hallways of 10 floors. This upgrade not only enhances cleanliness, safety, and ease of maintenance, but creates a better, comfortable home for tenants.
