Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) Partnership
Advancing evidence-based excellence in long-term care

About the Partnership
Copernicus Lodge partnered with the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) in April 2025 to begin a three-year journey toward becoming a designated Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO).
Through this initiative (2025–2028), we are implementing internationally recognized nursing best practice guidelines to enhance resident safety, strengthen family partnerships, and advance clinical excellence. Upon successful completion in 2028, Copernicus Lodge will receive official BPSO designation.
What is a BPSO?
A Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) is a healthcare organization formally recognized for implementing evidence-based best practice guidelines developed by RNAO. BPSOs demonstrate a strong commitment to quality improvement, measurable resident outcomes, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuous professional development.
Best Practice Guidelines selected for implementation from 2025–2028
Person- and Family-Centred Care
Strengthening partnerships with residents and families, promoting dignity and individualized care, and supporting shared decision-making.
Transitions in Care and Services
Enhancing safe, coordinated transitions in care with a focus on communication, continuity, and family involvement.
Preventing Falls and Reducing Injury from Falls
Implementing evidence-based strategies to prevent falls and reduce fall-related injuries while enhancing resident safety and mobility.
Our Commitment
Through this BPSO journey, Copernicus Lodge is integrating the latest nursing research into everyday practice, strengthening clinical excellence, resident safety, team collaboration, and continuous quality improvement.
