Copernicus Lodge Palliative Care Program provides holistic, resident and family-centred care through an interdisciplinary, compassionate approach to Palliative Care and End of Life Care.  It considers the resident’s physical, emotional, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs.

Goals of the palliative care program include:

  • Improvement in resident quality of life, by easing all aspects of pain and suffering
  • The focus of the program is on aggressive symptom management.
  • To support the resident in his/her journey towards death by offering emotional and spiritual comfort.
  • To grant the resident’s final wishes and respect his/her choices so that he/she may die with dignity.
  • To offer support to family members and share with them the responsibility of providing for the resident’s needs.

Assessments are completed and options are made available which provide for quality-of-life improvements, symptom management, psychosocial support, and End of Life Care.
