45th Galaxy Ball
In May of 2024, Copernicus Lodge Foundation hosted its first gala in 16 years, the Galaxy Ball, at La Primavera Event Space. Over 300 guests gathered to commemorate the opening of Copernicus Lodge in May 1979, raising funds for essential capital needs and equipment.
The evening was a touching tribute to the Lodge’s founding directors with several in attendance, including Stan Mamak, Dr. Ted Ptak, and Dr. Edward Rzadki. Families of late founders Kazia Bladek, Chester Smith, Ted Glista, and Senator Stanley Haidasz were also present to honour their loved ones’ contributions.
Guests were treated to captivating performances by Canadian Opera Company soprano Karolina Podolak and the folklore dance ensemble Radosc Joy, as well as Ilona Urbaniak. The event was a success, raising over $150,000 thanks to the generosity of 20 sponsors, including lead sponsors Oblate Fathers of Assumption Province and Alpha Oil. The Copernicus Lodge Auxiliary also contributed $45,000 to the cause.
Notable government attendees included Minister of Long-Term Care Stan Cho, MPP Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Ontario Liberal Party leader Bonnie Crombie, along with parliamentary members of the Polish Sejm, as well as Polish Embassy and Polish Consulate senior officials.
